The hill station is in the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayan range.

Mussoorie, the Queen of Hills, has several
interesting weekend getaways that you simply can’t resist. Travellers can
choose from the scenic Dhanaulti, or beautiful Shimla and Kanatal. Other than
these, you have Dehradun, Chandigarh, Haridwar and Rishikesh, which are
absolutely perfect for photo enthusiasts, painters, nature lovers and adventure
seekers. Almost all these destinations are just few hours’ drive away from
Mussoorie, perfect for a weekend away.
There are typically two modes of transport
from Dehradun to Mussoorie:
1.
Public
Transport - Buses from Dehradun to
Mussoorie move frequently and are pretty cheap - a one-way trip will be under
100. A major advantage is that because it is a frequented route, you do not
even need to go all the way to ISBT as local buses pick up travelers at all bus
stops on the way. However, I must tell you that almost all public transport
drivers are unruly and you will have to confront nausea on the way.
2.
Cab
Service - Unfortunately, rapid
cab services like Ola and Uber do not yet offer service from Dehradun to Musoorie
which brings you to choose local taxi services. The main advantage here is that
local taxi drivers have plenty of experience on the route and offer privacy.
Moreover, there experience also allows them to drive safely, thereby helping
you enjoy all of the route without nausea. This is, thus, the mode I would
recommend for a healthier experience. A decent cab service will cost you around
1700 INR for one-way trip.
